William Locke

- WILLIAM LOCKE, m. 1. MARY , who d. Feb. 21, 1710-11, a. 21. 2. m. JEMIMA RUSSELL, dau. of Philip of Lex. He resided in the 2. Precinct of Wob. which was incorporated as Burlington in 1799 ; but that portion which included his house and a portion of his land was annexed to Lex. the same year on the petition of his gr. son Thomas. This was undoubtedly a part of his father's homestead, g.nd probably his house was that of his father. There were two other houses on his father's farm known as the " Porter House," and the " Newman House," that are not now in existence, and I have not been able to reconcile several conveyances made by the chil. of his father, where "mansion houses" are mentioned. William above "owned the covenant" in the Church at Lex. Sep. 9, 1716, in the Records of which Ch. his death is recorded Jany. 29, 1767, a. 83, and that of his wid. Jemima, Nov. 16, 1782, a. 90 ; but on his grave stone he is said to have d. Jany. 20, 1767.
