Locke Genealogy

Welcome

The Locke Family Association's 2-year project to update the Locke Genealogy

is now in its final stages!

The Locke Genealogy, Supplement 3, will be published in December, 2020. See the FAQ for more details.

This website will continue to help organize future updates, and is dedicated to the genealogies of:

  • John Locke (1627-1696) of Hampton and Rye, NH
  • Nathaniel Locke (1629-1674) of Portsmouth, NH
  • William Locke (1628-1720) of Woburn, MA

These are the only known Lockes to arrive in New England before the 18th century.

This online genealogy continues the tradition of the original genealogies from 1853 and 1916, plus the two supplements published by the Locke Family Association (LFA) in 1979 and 2002, to create a living family tree of the 20,000-some known Locke descendants.

Do I Have to Log In?

Access to the first few generations is open. Please check it out!

The full site is available to members of the Locke Family Association. Just register for an account.

What Is Different

When the LFA published supplement II, we were reminded what was unique about the Locke books. With this site, we want to maintain both credibility and personal relevance, by rigorously focusing on citing sources and emphasizing narrative biographies.
