F125 Nathaniel Locke, born in Rhode Island Sept. 29, 1723, married Ann Rose, Jan. 30, 1745; he married 2nd, Temperance Rose, Aug. 27, 1756. She born Aug. I'j, 1734. In 1775 he moved to Chenango Co., N. Y., with all his family except John and Abijah. The Hunnewell Genealogy says that Lyman Hunnewell and cousins Nathaniel and Amasa Locke came from Block Island, and settled in Oxford Co., N. Y. No Amasa Lock is recorded in Block Island records. Nathaniel paid his first tax in Block Island (New Shoreham) in 1744. In 1751 he received a gift of land from his father-in-law, Daniel Rose; was made a freeman in 1756 and from that year to 1775 was constable, tax collector, overseer of the poor, and harbor master many years.
