Phebe Locke

Female 1709 -

  • Phebe, b. Aug. 15, 1709 ; 1. m. Daniel Brewer, Sep. 9, 1732-3. 35 2. m. Isaac Hartwell, July 14, 1776.PHEBE LOCKE, m. I.DANIEL BREWER, (of Concord >) Sep. 9, 1732. Soon after they resided at Weston, as appears by the baptisms of the chil. In 1735 they were at Hopkinton, and he was prob. the same Daniel Brewer who was rated at Framingham in 1742, and a member of the Church there in 1746. (See Bany's Framingham). There is a great uncertainty about this family. Two of his sons, Samuel and Daniel, were in both the French and Revolutionary wars, and it is probable that the father was also in the French war. Capt. Daniel Brewer and Samuel Brewer are found on the Army Rolls, Feb. 1756 ; and the name of Capt. Daniel is also on the alarm list at Concoi-d in 1757. Among " the sick and wounded " in the Crown Point Expedition in W56, were Samuel and Daniel Brewer of Concord, who received aid from the Government of Mass. (See Journals of the General Court.) I have very little doubt that these were either Daniel the father and his son Samuel, or Daniel, Jr., and his brother Samuel. When and where the father d. is not ascertained. His wid. m. ISAAC HARTWELL, at Oxford Country Gore, July 14, 1776, who d. Dec. 6, 1786, and was the first person buried in the grave-yai'd at that place. She d. at Hudson, N. H., at the house of Dea. Moses Greely, who md. her gr. dau. a. about 94.
