F159 Samuel Locke, b. , m. Lucy Bill. I do not propose to reject any tradition such as that Jonathan Locke, b. 1705, had a posthumous child, Jonathan, only, but I do feel warranted for several reasons in placing this Samuel as a possible son of Jonathan, rather than leave him among the unknowns. First, Jonathan was in or about Providence when "Samuel son of Jonathan" was born 1725-30. Second, Jonathan, Sr., had brothers of similar names to Samuel and his known descendants. Third, A Rhode Island Locke of our known branch writes that his mother used to visit a distant relative Mary Burt Locke or Mar>' Bird Locke as he recalls the name.
