    ELIZABETH LOCKE m. ZACHARIAH SYMMES, of Charlestown, June 16, 1748, who was b. July 15, 1712 ; the son of the Rev. Thos. Symmes, of Boxford and Bradford, by wf. Elizabeth Blowers, of Camb. ; gr. son of the Rev. Zachariah Symmes of Bradford, by wf. Susannah Graves (who were m. Nov. 9, 1669 ;) and gr. gr. son of the Rev. Zachariah Symmes, by wf. Sarah ; who einigrated from Dunstable, in Eng. to Charlestown, in 1634, where he was ordained Dec. 22, 1634, and d. Feb. 4. 1671, a. 71. Mr. Symmes, who md. Elizabeth Locke, resided in Charlestown, and for many years kept the " Cape Breton Tavern," (which stood near the present " Bunker Hill Tavern,") a place v/ell known in those days. When the British were in possession of Charlestown, it was occupied for barracks ; and it is related to me, by a gr. dau. of Mr. Symmes, that the British built a large oven near the house using grave-stones taken from the burying-ground for the bottom. Mr. Symmes removed to (Wob.?) and d. July 12, 1772. " [By a former wf. Grace Parker, whom he m. in Charlestown July 10, 1734, he had William, b. Nov. 9, 1738 ; John, b. Oct. 13, 1740 ; and Isaac, b. Sep. 1742, who prob. m. Hannah Davis, Mh. 20, 1765 ] His wid. Elizabeth m. Nov. 15, 1776, EBENEZER BROOKS, (whose first wf. was Jemima Locke, [67] see par. 39) and d. Mh. 1803, a. nearly 88.
