  • LUCRETIA LOCKE, m. Capt. EPHRAIM WILDER, Ap. 3, 1755, of the Second Parish in Lancaster, and which was incorporated as the town of Sterling (a) in 1781. Capt. Wilder was born July 8, 1733, the son of Capt. Ephraim Wilder, who was wounded in the Indian fight of 1707, at Lancaster, and d. 1769, a. 94, by wife Anna (Wilder.?) ; the gr. son of Nathaniel, who was killed by the Indians 1704, and the gr. gr. son of Thomas, who was of Charlestown, where he was admitted to the Church 30.1.1640, and Anna, perhaps his wf. was admitted 7.3.1650. He (Thomas) was a juryman from Charlestown 1658, and removed to Lancaster, July 1, 1059. He d. Oct. 23, 1667, at Lancaster. Capt. Ephraim Wilder, of Sterling, was a member of the Mass. Convention that met for the adoption of the United States Constitution in 1787, and was one of only seven delegates from Worcester Co. who voted in favor of its adoption. He was a Representative from S. for some years, and d. Jany. 29, 1805, a. 72; his wid. d. Dec. 29, 1816, a. 83. "Of all the ancient Lancaster families there is no one that has sustained so many important offices as this." (Worcester Magazine, vol. ii., p. 45.) His farm was on the main road from Lancaster to Sterling, and his house was the first house in Sterling. His son, Capt. Harrison, lives on the same farm, in a house more westerly. P511 Ephraim, b. Ap. 29, 1756 ; m. Hannah Reed, about 1778. Born in Lancaster, as were all his siblings.
