F113 Benjamin Leavitt, born a twin, Oct. 4, 1732, married Dec. 6, 1753, Esther Towle, born Jan. 16, 1734, died in Hampton Falls, 1815, dau. of Philip and Lydia Dow. He lived at Hampton Falls and died March 14, 1805.
The first six children (of eight) settled in Pittsfield.
F113 Benjamin Leavitt, born a twin, Oct. 4, 1732, married Dec. 6, 1753, Esther Towle. She was born Jan. 16, 1734, died in Hampton Falls, 1815, dau. of Philip and Lydia Dow. They lived at Hampton Falls and he died March 14, 1805.
He served in the Revolutionary war. On 26 Sept. 1775, he enlisted in Capt. Isaac Sherman's Co., Baldwin's regiment. He belonged to the N. H. militia and was transferred from 1st N. H. reg't for state of N. H. to reinforce continental army at New Hampton, N. H. 20 Dec. 1776 to 1 Mar. 1777. He was under Capt Moses Leavitt and Col. Moses Nichols from 5 to 27 Aug. 1778. He was appointed to Parish of Seabrook to hire soldiers 1779. Under Capt. Daniel Jewell and Col. Thomas Bartlett, 17 July to 25 Oct. 1780. He received money for services at Hampton Falls, N. H. 1781.
He lived at Hampton Falls and Seabrook, N. H., was a land surveyor, and owned land at Weare, N. H. He is buried in the New Cemetery at Hampton Falls opposite the Old Parish Cemetery. D. A. R. marker at his grave.
The first six children (of eight) settled in Pittsfield.
