    F165 Lieut. Ephraim Locke, born in Rye Feb. 10, 1730. married May 14, 1752, Comfort Dowrst, born Aug. 21, 1731, at Rye, dau. of Ozem and Elizabeth (Seavey) of Epsom. He bought 50 acres of land in' Epsom in 1747, and 40 acres more in 1756. He sold land there in 1762, and willed land there in 1763. He left Rye in 1767, was a moderator in Epsom 1773-5, made list of soldiers there Aug. 24, 1776. He represented the town in the Legislature, and was a Revolutionary soldier. He died March 7, 1798.

    Ephraim married Comfort Dowrst 14 May 1752. Comfort (daughter of Ozem Dowrst and Elizabeth Seavey) was born 21 Aug 1731, Rye, Rockingham, New Hampshire. [Group Sheet]

    F35 Francis Locke, b. July 18, 1694, m. Jan. 24, 17 16-7, Deliverance Brookin; m. 2nd, March 11, 1733, Sarah MoulTON, dau. of Joseph and Bethia. She was b. Feb. 10, 1692. On Feb. 7, 1717, he sold one-half of a 50 acre grant near Breakfast Hill, sold land to brother Thomas in 1739. In 1750, he sold land rights, formerly his wife Sarah's. He was a farmer in Rye; Captain of a company which served at Fort William and Mary July 2, 1746. On Dec. 4, 1750, he sold the homestead in Rye to his son Francis, and probably died in 1754. Sarah, his widow, Sept. 4, 1760, sold to dau. Prudence land and personal property.

    F6 Edward Locke, b. , m. in 1692, Hannah Jenness, dau. of Francis and Hannah (Swaine) of Hampton. She b. March 26, 1673. His name appears on petitions in the years 1721-6, and in the year 1701, his father-in-law conveys land at Sandy Beach Pond to Edward and wife Hannah, and after their decease to their son Francis. Edward sells house, barn, and part of land at Sandy Beach Pond, July 17, 1738, to son Thomas. He was a farmer in Rye, and died about 1739.

    Captain John Locke was probably baptized in London, England, Sept. 16, 1627, married about 1652, Elizabeth, the daughter of William and Jane Berry, and was killed by the Indians Aug. 26, 1696, in Rye, N. H. Elizabeth the widow was living in 1708 when the estate was settled and the children given below shared in its distribution. Several old papers prepared by descendants born about 1735, give the entire family, and in the following order. As first names only were given it is impossible to determine whether the girls were married, or to whom married at that time (1708) but we know nearly all were. -- Locke Genealogy 1916
