Locke descendant Mary Neal and her spouse Joseph Robinson tended the lighthouse at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbor in 1843-1846.  http://www.portsmouthharborlighthouse.org/portsmouth-harbor-lighthouse/history-portsmouth/

This was amusing ... descendants found in Oregon, in 1900, apparently went to a new state with each child.

I was a rambunctious child myself, but my parents were never asked to move as a result!

News / Josiah Locke Frost, Migrant to Calif Gold Fields then Wisconsin
« on: January 10, 2018, 02:23:40 AM »

Josiah Locke Frost led a very colorful life, born in Mass, went to California gold fields, and ended up in Wisconsin.  His middle name was very intriguing -- there must be a link through a female ancestor!

A couple days of research and we found that his middle name was a tribute to a neighboring family rather than a relative.  Nonetheless, his is a great story, and emblematic of a more heroic age.  Find it posted by the Wisconsin Historical Society at https://www.wisconsinhistory.org/Records/Newspaper/BA2399

Queries / Re: No family after 1930?
« on: December 28, 2017, 04:00:33 PM »
The tree has been populated from the oldest Locke books -- the Book of the Lockes, John Goodwin Locke, 1853 for the Deacon William of Woburn line, and from A History and Genealogy of Captain John Locke of Portsmouth and Rye, Arthur H Locke, 1916, for the Capt. John and Nathaniel Locke lines.

Consequently, everything stops at 1916 except for lines that I have extended, or updates that have been contributed so far.

We still have the information from the Supplement I and II books to go.  I will make sure that we extend your family in the next update of the site -- Could you give me bios and maybe a photo of your grandparents?

Thanks
